The Black Design Collective has three membership application periods per year. The application periods for 2021 are: January 1-31, June 1-30, and September 1-30. Read below for information on membership benefits and the application review process.

Application Review Process
- Complete the appropriate online application.
- Pay the associated fee.
- Upon submission of application, you will receive notice that BDC received your application. Please note the membership application review time frame is approximately 30 days.
- Once an application is approved, member will be sent a welcome email that will outline next steps.
Types Of Memberships
Professional Designer
$75
- Must have 5 years or more of experience in the fashion, costume, accessory or textile design field
- Must have a store front or on-line store
- Be recommended for membership by a BDC Board Member or Current Member
Associate Designer
$75
- Have less than 5 years of experience in the fashion, costume, accessory or textile design field.
- Must have a store front or on-line store
- Be recommended for membership by a BDC Board Member or Current Member.
Affiliate
$75
- Photographers, models, makeup artists, stylists, videographers, graphic designers, press/media, pattern makers, illustrators, fashion show directors, etc.
- Affiliate must be recommended for membership by a current member, BDC Board Member or advisory board member.
- Affiliate must complete application process.
- Affiliate must work in the fashion or costume industry.
Student
$25
- Must be currently in high school, college, university or trade school.
- Able to provide references from teachers / instructors
- Must currently be enrolled in or interested in enrolling in an accredited program in fashion, costume, accessory or textile design
